Immediately after graduating from university, I joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). After eight years, I decided to make Edmonton my home instead of taking yet another transfer. In 1979, I became a full-time real estate professional and have gained experience in every kind of market from recession to boom times. Today more than 60% of the business we do is with families we have worked with more than twice.
I believe that what I am going to do for you is more important than what I have done for myself. However, for anyone who likes comparing the credentials of Realtors®, you might be interested in the some of the industry credentials I have achieved through the years, including:
I have been married to Karen since 1973 and enjoy a very close relationship with our children, Christopher and Alexandra.
A major part of my life since the early 70's has been the Martial Arts. I am the founder and most senior instructor for the Edmonton Goju-Kai Karate Club and also enjoy cross training in Iaido, Kenjutsu and Kali. I am also an active member and supporter of the YMCA and exercise +/- five times a week at the Jaime Platz YMCA.
I have also been an active member of Rotary since 1982 and have served in various club positions including president. I was honored with a Paul Harris fellowship and twice with the "Service Above Self" Award.
Another passion of mine includes hitting the road on my Harley Davidson. I have been an avid rider since my youth and often share this passion by donating a ride and lunch on the bike through silent auctions at various charity events. Visit my blog for awesome rides in Western Canada.
Starting in 2000 while attending university, I worked for Eden part time during the school year and full time during the summers until I became a licensed Realtor in 2006. Working as his unlicensed assistant proved to be an invaluable opportunity to develop technical expertise as well as problem solving experience. I graduated from the University of Alberta with an Associate Major in Psychology and Sociology plus I have a Management Studies Diploma at Grant MacEwan College. In 2005, I lived in Australia and Thailand and enjoyed exploring what the world had to offer. To keep fit, I have trained at karate with Eden and we have been going to the gym together every morning since 1997. In my spare time, I enjoy being a goaltending coach for the St. Francis Xavier Hockey Academy. I also manage a roller and ice hockey franchise team, which keeps me busy. I have a wonderful personal life with my wife Monique and our 2 children Remy and Scarlett. My personal motto in life is best summarized in Newton's words "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" - my father Eden being one of those giants!
